WHO WE ARE
AFA is a student-run club that promotes animal rights around UCI to minimize suffering of animals and stop speciesism as well as veganism as a social justice movement.
We are dedicated to raising awareness about and actively trying to change the plight of non-human animals in our society. Through campus and community outreach, promoting veganism, volunteering, and activism, we aim to inform people about the various ways animals are used in our society and the cruelties involved in consuming animal products. Every week, students and community members can participate in an event such as chalk activism, peta2 organized events such as protests, leafletting, and signature gathering. We get together for socials like movie night, vegan potluck, or dinner at a vegan restaurant. We similarly aim to produce humane alternatives to animal products, inform people about how raising animals for food affects the environment, and to stress the health benefits associated with veganism.
We meet once a week at our general meetings where we all learn while getting to know each other.
